First responders pull man from burning vehicle
A Franklin County man was aircared after the vehicle he was driving struck a deer and a tree before the vehicle caught on fire.
Injured was Kyle P. Manis, Jr., 26, Cedar Grove.
According to a Franklin County Sheriff's Department press release, area first responders were able to pull Manis out of the vehicle before the vehicle was engulfed in flames. The Drewersburg Volunteer Fire Department extinguished the flames.
Manis was operating a Chevrolet Trailblazer northbound on Johnson Fork Road about one-half mile north of the Dearborn County line at 10:47 p.m Tuesday, Nov. 28, Manis then struck a deer. That caused Manis to lose control. Manis then struck a tree, and the vehicle caught fire.
Reports said Manis was unconscious in the vehicle prior to being pulled from the vehicle.
An AirCare helicopter landed in a nearby field, taking Manis to University Hospital in Cincinnati for treatment of his injuries.
On top of putting the vehicle’s fire out, DVFD members set up the landing site and guided the helicopter in for the landing.
FCSD Deputy Sam Williams investigated the accident. He was assisted at the scene by FCSD Deputy Jason Robinson, Responder 24 and Drewersburg EMS-1.
