Dear Editor

An interesting anniversary passed a few days ago on June 20th, and I don’t think there was much mention of it in the Brookville or Franklin County Community.

On June 20, 1912, on hundred years ago, a cornerstone was laid for the Brookville School blds which is now, of course a major portion of the County government center. That building was being built to replace the original Brookville College building which had been used by the community school sincer the 1870’s.

Another anniversary will pass on Dec. 30, on that date the build was used for the first time. A dedication ceremony was there held on New Years day, Jan 1, 1913.

It is interesting to know about what kind of investment the people of that time made in their Community. It is hard to believe that the contract for the 1912 structure was $30,700. Another source of information showed that before it was finished totally the cost had risen to $35,000.

I feel certain that the citizins of 1912 would be really proud of how this Community has taken care of that structure. With the magnificant job of remodeling that was done a few years ago maybe we can imagine a 200 year anniversary in 2112.
