David Bertch of Liberty, passed away on Friday April 12, 2024, at Majestic Care of Connersville at the age of 80.  David was born in Richmond, on April 9, 1944, one of two sons of Maxwell and Dorothy Deich Bertch.

David received his master’s degree from Ball State University.  He worked for the Union County School Corporation for 10 years as the elementary school librarian.  He then went to work at the family business, Bertch and Son Hardware until his retirement in 2014. After his retirement, he still spent most of his days at the store or drinking coffee and shooting the bull with his friends at the Liberty Restaurant.  He also spent most of his summers at the family retreat in Michigan.

David was very active in the Liberty Lodge F. & A.M. #58, where he served as Past Master.  He also had served as Past Grand Commander of the Knights Templar, was a member of the York Rite, Scottish Rite and Murat Shrine.

His love and memories will be remembered by his brother, John (Ruth) Bertch, several nieces and nephews as well as his many friends in the Liberty community.

Keeping with David’s wishes, cremation was chosen.  After cremation David will be transported to Michigan to his final resting place at Bay View Memorial Gardens.
